San Antonio River Walk
The San Antonio River Walk is an absolute must do if you are going to visit Southern Texas. It’s a great way to get a feel for the city because the River Walk links up most of San Antonio’s tourist attractions, and it has many of the cities great restaurants and shops within its grasp.
San Antonio River Walk
The River Walk is approximately 15 miles (24 km) of sidewalk that runs along both sides of the San Antonio River. The walkway includes a lot of old cobbled arch styled bridges that add character and charm to the area.
The River Walk is the perfect place to start when exploring San Antonio. I started my adventure from the River Center Mall where a lot of San Antonio’s tourist attractions are situated.
Shops & Restaruants
The San Antonio River Walk is a great place to find a good restaurant for lunch or supper. If you’re not hungry you can grab a drink and relax. It’s a great place to people
One of the best ways to enjoy the River Walk is to take a narrated river cruise. This is great because you can learn some history about San Antonio and the River Walk. You can buy tickets from one of the many booths along the river. I decided to do a night tour that started near the River Center Mall.
If you are in San Antonio between Thanksgiving and New Years you can enjoy the spectacular display of lights that hang from all of the trees. The ticket cost for the boat ride was 12 USD when I went, but check out the GO RIO website for the most recent prices. I did not have to reserve my ticket.
The San Antonio River Walk and cruise both remind me of a little city in Malaysia called Melaka. Melaka has a river walk and a boat cruise that is similar. If you enjoyed this post you might want to check out a post I did on Melaka Malaysia Worth Visiting.
